Who We Are

Executive Director – Lorne Hadley
Lorne has been a part of the seed industry in Western Canada for 35 years.

Lorne grew up on a mixed farm near Landis, Saskatchewan. He attended the University of Saskatchewan, where he earned a degree in agriculture, specializing in agricultural economics.

Beginning in 1984, Lorne supervised operations and sales for Canadian Seed Coaters in North Battleford. In 1989, Lorne moved to Winnipeg to join United Grain Growers, special crops and seed division. With the development of Proven Seed product line, Lorne came back to Saskatchewan, first as the Area Sales Manager for UGG’s Proven Seed division. During the 1994 restructuring of UGG, Lorne was promoted to Regional Manager. In this role Lorne led the UGG operations in Northern and Central Saskatchewan. A large part of this role was developing capital plans for the construction and upgrade of grain terminals in and facilitating these start-ups. Later, as Manager of Special Crops Operations, Lorne was part of the team that transitioned the special crops operations of the company to a new business model.

In 2001, Lorne established AgGenuity Consulting, a firm specializing in seed industry expertise. He has worked with several clients on a national and international level to provide knowledge on seed market regulations, intellectual property, contract considerations and Plant Breeders’ Rights issues. Over the past decade, he has served as the Executive Director of the Canadian Plant Technology Agency and has successfully established the CPTA as an effective education, monitoring and enforcement agency across Canada.

He is a member of both the Canadian Consulting Agrologists Association and the Saskatchewan Institute of Agrologists. In 2014, he was presented with the Canadian Seed Trade Association’s National Seed Achievement Award in recognition of his efforts to foster a competitive and innovative seed industry in Canada.

Lorne operates his consulting business from his grain farm at Landis. He and his wife Karen have two grown children and two grandsons.
